When it comes to music, it literally rules Dave's life. He has been DJing since the early 80s, but it wasn’t until the mid 90’s that he became interested in radio presenting. Dave loves and respect all types of good music, right from as far back as the classic 60s through to the indie pop ’90s & 00s. He grew up in West London listening to the radio as a young lad and started collecting vinyl at the mere age of 5 years old. He would save up his pocket money to buy records as often as possible, and even now, 50-odd years on, he is still collecting music and is now running out of space to store his massive vinyl collection. Dave was always a massive fan of the original “Pick of the Pop” presented by the late great Alan “Fluff” Freeman back in the day, and he always wanted to take a stab at doing his own breakfast show. So here it is.. "Dave Marley's - Marley in the Morning" 3 hours of great "feel good" music every weekday morning (Monday to Friday) from 7am to 10am. Great music from the 60s through to the 00s. Including feachures such as "the feel good hour" "80s at 8" "The 5 at 9" "The Workout Track" "Celeb Birthdays" "The Daily Vintage TV Theme" "Classic Album of the Week" and much more... All that and more, cramed into 3 hours every morning. Someone said recently.. "ITS THE BEST THING SINCE TISWAS!" tune in and make up you own mind. Catch the show here, weekdays from 7am to 10am Email me: marleyinthemorning@gmail.com Facebook (pop over and give Dave a "LIKE") : https://www.facebook.com/marleyinthemorning
Steve Chelmsford is the host and producer of The Mop Tops & The King and has been a fan of The Beatles and Elvis Presley since he was three years old. Steve got his start in radio when he met Dusty Fenders, a local radio personality on Radio Goldfield, a small community radio station in the middle of the Nevada desert. Steve developed a friendship with Dusty and his radio partner Carl Brownfield and soon became a member of The Carl & Dusty Radio Boogie writing jingles and other musical pieces for the show. About a year later, Radio Goldfield (KGFN 89.1FM) asked Steve if he would be interested in hosting his own show. The Mop Tops & The King made its debut on December 4, 2011 and is currently heard worldwide on over 90 radio stations.
In a previous life, Steve was a research engineer with the Air Force Research Laboratory for nearly 30 years. He is a life-long resident of Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

GARY JACKSON BIO BIO - Like many radio presenters, I started as a mobile DJ. From there I went on to hospital radio, and when the FM frequency beckoned, I jumped at the chance to join Skyline Gold in Southampton. It soon became apparent that other stations were sometimes short of presenters, and the norm in those days was to play automated music. In 2011 I offered a show to Forest FM – Sounds of the 70s – which I still present there to date, and I soon realized that here was a gap that needed filling elsewhere. Other stations followed including the legendary 1260KYA in San Francisco, Castledown Radio in Wiltshire, and the Bigl, today’s equivalent of 60s pirate station Radio London. (I have been broadcasting live on the BigL from my south coast studio six days a week since 2013). Soon stations all over the world started airing the shows. Some have used the shows for a while then replaced them with live presenters when available, others have given them their own permanent slots. Many people have asked who my favorite interviewee was, and the answer has to be Stu Cook of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Not only did Stu give me around twenty minutes, he was happy to talk about the days when things weren’t good, and after all, Creedence was my all-time favorite band in the 70s. For the 60s, it has to be The Searchers who are friends, and I have published their official website since 1997. As I have often said “On the rare occasions when things were hard going, I went to see The Searchers. Their sheer hard work and professionalism put me to shame and gave me the kick up the backside I needed”. My shows often feature guests, and interviews have included chats with Frank Allen of The Searchers – always a delight, Mike Rutherford (Genesis), Paul Carrack (Mike and The Mechanics, Squeeze), Justin Hayward, Alan Clark (Dire Straits), Tom McGuiness of Manfred Mann, Deborah Bonham, Simon Townsend, Stu Cook (Creedence) Dave Clark (Dave Clark Five) and just about every other 60s band still working! Not only that but household names like Jenny Eclair and Toyah Willcox have also joined me! My live radio work has taken me to California, and my shows now air from Tenerife to Tasmania! Very much a fan of personality radio, I try to remember that the listener comes first, I try to give my shows a live feel and keep listeners interested with features like the “A side B side”, “follow that” and the “back to front” song. One of my favorite write-ups came from Ace FM in Spain – sadly now long gone: Gary started his DJ career back in the days when half a dozen singles from Saturday Night Fever were guaranteed to fill the dance floor. Hospital radio beckoned in the early 1990s and he now finds himself on a Spanish station, surprised that it’s the English-speaking population that listens, having always thought the most suitable audience would be those who hadn’t a clue what he was on about. He fell in love with beat music in the 60s, and in 1997 he was approached by The Searchers to publish their official website which he does to this day. The Gary Jackson Show is packed with special features – not for the audience’s benefit, but because at his age just staying awake for two hours are tough enough, and every little helps!
What is New York’s Best Rock? Depends on who you ask. It doesn’t seem possible today, but in the early to mid 70s, the AM band was the dominating force in radio. In fact, it wasn’t until 1973 that the US Government mandated that all new cars had to be sold with both AM and FM tuners. AM Radio was dominated by tightly programmed music stations that played the same top 40 songs all day. Many songs repeated as frequently as every 45 minutes! So, those of us music fans who grew up during that time were hungry for more than just those 40 records repeated over and over. In the New York Metro area, we were lucky to have a radio station whose slogan was “New York’s Best Rock”. They featured deep album tracks from rock bands of the time. It was around that time that album sales started to eclipse singles sales. New York’s Best Rock, an “Album-Oriented-Rock” (AOR) station was certainly one of the forces behind that shift. For the first time, we could hear an alternative to the hit songs off an album on the radio. They featured deeper album tracks, and it was a tremendous success. So much so, that if you ask anyone of a certain age what New York’s Best Rock was, they can still tell you all these years later. It wasn’t just the music, it was also the DJ’s. Those who presented this music were stars themselves. It wasn’t unusual for John Lennon or Elton John or other big acts of the day to stop by the studios and chat with them when they were in town. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever, and in 1983, New York’s Best Rock was no more. Today, almost 40 years later, New York’s Best Rock hasn’t been forgotten! Magic Matt was one of those fans who grew up in the shadow of New York City listening and loving this great radio station, and it certainly had an effect on his musical tastes. Matt never forgot those heady days, and now, all these years later, he’s taken his obsession for it and turned it into his own weekly radio program. No, it’s not the original station, there’s no way to duplicate that, instead, it’s Matt’s vision of what New York’s Best Rock could have been if it lived on beyond 1983.

Richie Sullivan email Richie Richie is from New York, and has been a doo wop fan since his pre-teens (we won't say how far back that goes). Richie use to sing in an accapella group as a teenager. One of the members of that group (The Creations) went on to fame as a member of a 60's band. Another formed a group in the 60's with a former member of the Imaginations. Richie once sang the lead to "Gloria" on stage with Don and Juan doing the harmonies (if only he could still sound that way). Richie now lives in upstate NY, and is a self-employed therapist.

Jammin’ James Riley bio The term “old soul” has been used more often than not to describe James Riley. His mom’s Elvis albums and movies like American Graffiti and Buddy Holly Story helped shape his musical tastes as a kid growing up in Louisville, KY in the 70’s that continue to this day. Riley got a BA degree in Communication Arts at Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY where he took an active role at WRVG on campus. He’s been a fixture in the radio promotions scene since 1993 having worked for a variety of Christian record companies such as Word, Provident, Inpop and R.E.X. Records and now co-owns Old Fashioned Radio Publicity to focus Ameripolitan, Americana, Blues, Surf and other roots radio formats. James hosted Rockabilly N Blues Radio Hour from early 2014 through early 2021 before reviving Catching A Wave in February 2021 (a show he hosted from September 2016-December 2017). In 2016, Riley was nominated for DJ Of The Year at the Ameripolitan Music Awards and again in 2017 when he won the award. People were constantly asking for him to bring Catching A Wave back and he finally jumped back on the surfboard to bring the best in surf/summer/beach tunes! His wife Beth has a weekly segment on the show called “Surf’s Up: Beth’s Beach Boys Break” where you can hear a deep track from America’s band. Plus, there are more segments like “Wheel Of Fun, Fun, Fun”, Catching A Wave Time Machine and the Jammin’ James Jukebox selection/trivia of the week. He married his best friend, Beth Riley, in May 2020 and they work together on both the radio promotions side of things as well as a podcast and radio shows. Beth also hosts her own syndicated show called Boppin’ With Beth which she started September 2020! For more information, check out www.catchingawaveradio.blogspot.com James Riley rileypromo@gmail.com

uanduckxu@gmail.com Hi, I’m Ron Riemann. I’m from Alberta, Canada and have been in the broadcasting industry for over 26 years. I enjoy all genres of music especially those rare hard-to-find tracks and forgotten gems from the 60’s and 70’s. I am also a certified ballroom teacher creating art through music. A good song has a great behind-the-scenes story, something I like to share with listeners on my weekly show. Music is truly a universal language and my wife, and I enjoy all aspects of it living in the Great White North.

Music has been a part of my life for as far back as I can remember. The milkman left the milk on your doorstep, the doctor made house-calls and Ozzie and Harriet never slept in the same bed. Imagine that. Soul Food had not yet become a movie. For us growing up at that time, it was a way of life. If you were not at the table when dinner was served, you did not eat. That’s just how things were back then. Even before I knew who they were, my uncle would play songs by the Orioles, Platters and my favorite the Spaniels from his collection, in an attempt to put me to sleep. For the record, I grew up in the city of Philadelphia and like most urban cities of the fifties, guys stood on the street corners and sang. I will never forget the first time I went to the Uptown Theater and the chill that came over me when the Flamingos sang 前ld Man River’. I would go to the record stores and buy 45’s which at that time cost only sixty-nine cents. If I knew then what I know now, instead of using the records as flying saucers, I would have held on to them. It wasn’t until my return from Vietnam in 1967, that my interest in music begins to peak. The sound of the fifties was fading and Motown dominated the airways. Even though I was a big fan of the Temptations and the Miracles, the sound of Pookie Hudson’s smooth lead, along with Clyde (McPhatter) had a special place in my heart. There was something missing in not only the lead vocals, but the background as well. Later I will discuss what was missing, but in the meantime and between time I’d like to focus on an overview of events leading to the birth of R&B music. For the purpose of time reference, the doo-wop period has ended, James Brown has gone from being Bewildered to Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag. The British evasion has arrived along with Afro’s, Soul Train and the Jackson Five. Also emerging was the disco scene. Instead of Frankie Lymon, DJ’s are playing Frankie Beverly and Maze. My DJ career lasted for about twenty years. During that time I stayed true to the music I loved. I never made the transition to club or later Line Dance music. In early 2001, an opportunity appeared for me to go on the radio via a mutual friend, a radio personality himself. The radio station, 1360 AM WNJC, was a small brokerage station in Washington Township, New Jersey. Not only had I found my niche, but SAM THE GOLDEN OLDIES MAN had arrived. It didn’t take long for me to realize I wasn’t going to play the same song over and over again. Over the years, I came to realize there were over ten thousand groups recorded and there were a lot of stories to be told. I wanted to tell the story and give acknowledgment to those who paved the way. After all, many of us can fry chicken, but they can’t fry it the way I CAN………. This project is dedicated to not only my friend, but one of the greatest lead singer/song writer’s to ever live, the late James “Pookie” Hudson, lead singer of the Spaniels and all the others who have passed. MAY THEY ALL REST IN PEACE.

Jeff has been attempting radio since 1968 and still having trouble getting it right. Collecting records since a little tyke and has over 65,000 songs from the late 50s and 60s. Sharing them two hours every week. Playing what he wants to hear, the show is heavy with regional hits, pop, do wop, flip sides, teeners. Songs you just don’t hear on the other stations. All those tunes that fell between the big hits. Jiffy Jeff aka the Gastric Geezer puts a little humor on this timeless era. Feel free to email jiffyjeff2@msn.com for requests or just some good time insults. We like to hear from you.

Ray Glasser was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1947, and has had a life full of media interests. Ray was first on the radio in the summer of 1960 on WMFH, a small student-run station in his hometown of Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Even though the "gig" lasted only 5 months, the love of radio crept into Ray's blood and never left. In the summer of 1963 Ray got his first tape recorder, a Webcor reel-to-reel, and began recording disc jockeys and music off AM radio....something he continued doing until the late 70s. In 1970, while attending Ohio State University, Ray had 3 part-time oldies shows on various campus stations, taking the name "Ray King", and has kept that stage name throughout his life. Ray also worked at the long-gone Derby Hall Radio Lab, engineering and producing radio shows for students' assignments from their broadcasting classes. Through the 60s and 70s, Ray kept on recording music from Top 40 radio stations in Cleveland, parts of Texas, and Baltimore, MD., on reel-to-reel tapes. Ray has also amassed a huge collection of radio air checks and jingles throughout the years. In 1976 Ray discovered the Sony Betamax, and began a 40-year obsession with home video, building one of the largest Betamax video libraries in Ohio (over 2500 tapes), and was active in trading videos with friends, organizing video conventions, videotaping weddings and other social events, and sharing a lot of these on YouTube and social media in the 2000s. In 1980 Ray married a lovely Japanese woman, Michiko, who was the love of his life and enjoyed his video hobby with him. For a while, Ray was trading tapes with a gentleman in Japan, and was receiving tapes off Japanese TV for his wife to enjoy. Unfortunately, Michiko passed away in 2012 from cancer, after a long, full life. During the 1980s and 90s, Ray attended many of the Consumer Electronic shows in both Chicago and Las Vegas, enjoying the new video equipment releases that were displayed there. Ray has also published an extensive website devoted to the Betamax video format, at Betainofguide.net. Ray's interests have been mentioned in a number of publications, notably "Cleveland Radio Tales" (2017; ISBN 978-1-938441-90-5), and "From Betamax to Blockbuster" (2008; ISBN-13: 978-0262072908), as well as various video documentaries, including "Magnetic Highway" (parts 1 [ASIN: B07NN2TY4G] and 2). Although Ray studied TV and radio in college, and dreamed of being in broadcasting, he never seriously pursued it (due to the volatile and unstable nature of the business), so he worked in restaurants most of his working life, finally retiring in 2016. Ray continues to collect movies on DVD and BluRay and still does two radio shows: on an internet stream (WIXY1260Online.com, an online re-creation of Cleveland Top 40 powerhouse WIXY 1260), as well as a weekly show on John Carroll University's WJCU, playing oldies on Saturday afternoons on Rockin' Ray's Record Recall. Here’s the link to the Record Recall Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/recordrecallwjcu Here’s the link to the Variety Show Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/532807738833911 And here’s a blurb about the show: A one-hour weekly radio show, spotlighting pop music from the 1950s thru the 1970s, with a different theme every week! You'll hear shows spotlighting one-hit wonders, instrumental hits, boy groups, girl groups, British Invasion, long versions, and so much more!!!

MICKEY BO’S obsession with rock ‘n’ rhythm began as a lad in western Massachusetts when he nearly levitated watching Elvis on TV in ’56. He ain’t been the same since. As an adolescent, the “Mickster” spent his paper route earnings on hit records and played them on a pirate radio station in his bedroom. Because of a weak signal, though, neither neighbors nor the government retaliated.
Current programming: Hour 1-60's Surf Music. Hour 2-Modern Surf Music. Hour 3: Misc. instros/vocals.

Bio - Marty B has been involved in radio since he was a teenager doing voice over for commercials and promotional spots on his local hometown AM station. He has worked on air in almost every format: rock, religious, talk, country, and even a children's format. As a kid in the 70s he discovered 50s rock n roll and after seeing Wolf Man Jack in American Graffiti that was it - the die had been cast forever. Today he hosts the Sunday Matinee dedicated to original era rock n roll from the 50s thru the early 60s. Marty plays the hits, flips, and shoulda been hits. Dave Kapulsky has a room in his Freehold Township home that is lined with shelves filled with 45 rpm records. In fact, Kapulsky said, he has about *35,000 45’s and an additional 12,000 albums that he stores at his mother’s house in New Brunswick, where he grew up. A disc jockey, he goes by the moniker Dave the Rave and carries about 2,000 titles with him to a radio station in Howell each Saturday night when he does his Relics and Rarities program. From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on WPDQ-FM (89.7), he plays well-known songs and rarities that he says never got the play they deserved. In addition, he takes calls from listeners, many of whom ask him to play a song they may have heard once years ago and remembered. "Every week I pull out 25 to 30 45’s that have never been played before to play on my show. But there’s literally thousands that I want to play," he said. Dave the Rave said his show is very popular.
