Ray Robinson started making and collecting recordings of the offshore stations in 1970. That was when he was first able to buy a tape recorder with money saved from a summer holiday job while in high school. Since then, he has amassed an archive of many thousands of hours of broadcasts from all the offshore stations, and of course, Radio Caroline in particular. A number of these recordings, often from momentous occasions, have been very skillfully edited by Alan Sheead to restore their music quality to modern day standards, while retaining all the original presenter links, jingles, commercials and promos. Through these ‘Caroline Archive Hour’ shows, we will be bringing you the best of these restored recordings, focusing mainly on those from the 1960’s and 1970’s. More recent recordings will also be played from time to time, when their content includes music from these two decades, in line with the format of this channel. By listening to shows as they were originally presented all those years ago, you will not only hear tracks that never made the charts (and which you may well remember!), but you will also be able to re-connect with former Caroline DJ’s who became ‘friends’. Enjoy exploring the archive with us, every Saturday and Sunday evening at 8pm UK time. Originally an Essex boy, Ray now lives with his wife and family in Los Angeles, from where he presents these programmes.

s.e.p.---a boy and his microphone the adventure began…in 1964. age 13…and the one-two punch of finding himself a bona fide New Orleanian, knee deep in the hoopla of a unique musical tradition…and the arrival of those long haired, cheeky lads from Liverpool…inevitably, the teen years garage bands…until his post-high school move to Nashville pursuing the “every guitar playing kid’s dream of success as a singer/songwriter… …staff songwriter for a variety of major league publishing companies with a not too shabby resume’, with songs recorded by Mel Tillis, Conway Twitty, Nancy Sinatra, Frank Sinatra, Lacy J, Dalton, et al …backup vocalist (behind such notables as Bobby Helms, Dobie Gray, Frank Sinatra, Jr, etc) , …and…in his spare time... composing and producing local, regional and national jingles and radio ads, multiple Addy Award wins …add a Grammy nomination for a song written for Claire Lynch’s nominated bluegrass album, “Lamplighter” in 1989… come the new Millennium…and the full time diving into what had been a part time indulgence in the songwriting years….broadcasting… the songwriter became the morning jock, the song player, the talk show host…over the next ten years, award winning, top rated broadcast gigs in Delaware, Maryland, Mississippi and Georgia…before returning, in 2012, to the Chesapeake Bay area to continue working in music radio, talk radio, commercial and jingle writing and production… and, as terrestrial radio de-evolved, podcasting and Internet radio beckoned, producing oldies programming that, purposely, doesn’t sound like oldies programming…most notably…..”45RPM”…where “everything oldies…is new again…” for the complete picture…visit the website… FB: Email: Website:

Monday - Thursday 2-6pm Pacific | 5-9pm Eastern The Webs Rock Revolution rock_n_rhett Rock_n_Rhett
Rhett started his broadcast career in Jackson Tennessee at WKBJ AM (Milan, TN) as a board op on Saturday mornings, and engineer for Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 on Sundays. Within 2 months he was “Promoted” to overnights on the am jams sister FM station “The Nu 92 FM” (WYNU). He moved back to Memphis keeping his overnight gig and picked up Weekend overnights at Rock 103 (WZXR). HE considers his first “Big Time” gig in the Biz to be the first job that made him move in order to accept, which was  99.5 KRIX Brownsville TX. He also began working in the Rio Grande Valleys high-energy dance Station (KRGV/KRGE) as the “Z-Man”.

When he moved to the Monterey Bay Area in California he was again in the right place at the right time, because the local classical radio station flipped from KBACH (KBOQ) to K-ROCK 103.9 (KRQC), where he landed his first F/T Morning Drive shift and kept it while commuting to the University of the Pacific in Stockton. It was at UOP he met Darren McGavinRalph Guild, and Jon Crabbe (all UOP Alums), as they recognized his commercial broadcasting experience as well as a natural real-world business style, they handed him the task of building a new campus radio station of, by, and for the students. He built KPAC – “The Runaway Radio Station” which is currently known as “The Roar of the Pacific“ and the next semester he created KPAC-TV as well.

Rhett was the epitome of a “Road Warrior” as he literally travelled around the world (over 7 times mileage wise) while working in the High-Tech industry in Silicon Valley since the dawn of the 21st century. Fast forward to January 2020…… He constructed and launched KRIR-db  “RetroRock Internet Radio”.
